Company Marlene Film Production was founded in 2013 and its first movie made was Storyteller (Pohadkar) by Vladimír Michálek. The most successful project of the company has been Jiří Strach’s fairy tale Angel of the Lord 2, the biggest hit at the Czech box office in 2016, which saw 1.3 million viewers in cinemas plus 3 million people on television during Christmas 2017, 2.5 million viewers at Christmas 2018 and 2.1 million during the 2019 holidays.
In 2019 Marlene Film produced the drama Charlatan for world-renowned Polish director Agnieszka Holland with actors Ivan Trojan and Juraj Loj. World-wide premiere was held during Berlinale 2020 in the Special Gala Section. Its Czech premiere has been originaly scheduled for March 26, 2020 but was postponed because of COVID-19 pandemic to the 20th of August.
Marlene Film Production is currently developing several projects: Magician, Far To Go (adaptation of the Booker Prize long-listed novel of the same name) and comedy Female President.
